Tony's Take: Treat Everyone Equally

I think throughout the life of the Goo-Dee-Bag the one thing I have always fought is the concept of Political Correctness, especially when it gets in the way of telling the truth. Of course, I get it that we live in a society where we must hide behind this veil of being Politically Correct regardless of the result in order to prevent being unreasonably hated. Unfortunately, the thing people never catch on to is the fact that as soon as a line is drawn, it is immediately taken advantage of to get away with anything. This is why I was not surprised when I saw that there is a group of lesbian women going to court after assaulting a gay man, and now they are being charged with a hate crime.

Now you may say “Well maybe they are self hating lesbians, and were therefore out there attacking the man because he was gay.” To which point I remind you if that was the case I would not be writing about this here. Apparently the group of women happen to be very open about their homosexuality and did not know the man was gay. They only attacked him after he made “homophobic slurs” towards the women. Naturally, this is not a reason to beat someone half to death in the eyes of the law, but in no way is that a hate crime.

This is where I get to my point of people taking advantage. The man after his beating when speaking to the Police officer stated he believed he was beaten because of his homosexuality. His cited reason being that they were making “homophobic slurs” towards him while they were beating him. Of course reading this you know it was probably them repeating what he said while beating him to remind him of why they were beating him. Of course knowing he could take advantage of his protected status he made sure to tell the police it was because he is gay. I cannot even begin to understand why anyone could believe this is a hate crime knowing the facts of the case. Naturally though, now we have the ACLU coming out saying that it is still a beating driven by homophobia simply because the man is gay. They use the qualifying sentence “Someone who is Jewish can be anti-Semitic.” How can you even begin to say this knowing why they beat the man? They do not hate the fact they are gay, they openly embrace it! Please tell me I am not the only one that finds this to be absolutely ridiculous.

The other issue with being Politically Correct is it is a one-way street. You never hear about a straight man claiming he was attacked by a group of gay men because he was straight (even though I am sure it has happened), you never see a white person in court claiming he was attacked by a black man because he is white. How do I know that? Because it has happened to me. This is what happens when you put certain groups on a pedestal. It in itself is racism, sexism, etc. because what you are doing is now harming unprotected groups in a way to artificially boost others. So let’s try to come to an adult consensus here. Yes, there is such a thing as someone attacking someone because of their gender, sexual orientation, or race. But because it exists, that does not mean every time someone of one of these protected classes is harmed it is because of their status within the protected class. It is time for us as a society to grow up.

But that is just my take…
